Post commenced the month-long Overseas Voting (postal mode) for qualified overseas Filipino voters in the Nordic countries of Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden at 8:00 a.m. today, 09 April 2016. The first day of overseas voting proceeded smoothly and without incident. As of 09 April 2016, a total of 96 sealed ballot envelopes were received from overseas voters under Post’s jurisdiction, 95 of which were mailed and one submitted personally. The first voter who personally handed over her sealed ballot to the SBRCG at 11:22 a.m. today, 09 April 2016, was Ms. Rhoda T. Lagura. Ms. Lagura is a 29- year old au pair who currently resides in Lier, Norway. She expressed her excitement upon learning that she is the first overseas voter in the five Nordic countries to personally submit her vote. She is happy that the overseas voting process offers Filipinos based overseas the opportunity to participate in the electoral process and choose the country’s leaders even though they are currently not residing in the Philippines.
